RIGG Annual Classical Guitar Raffle - 2024

The Rhode Island Guitar Guild is delighted to present a Stephen Hill 2A model guitar for our 2025  WINTER RAFFLE.  Stephen Hill is a well-respected luthier from Granada whose guitars are regularly seen for sale at sites such as Siccas Guitars and the Guitar Salon International.  The 2A model is built in Hill’s workshop by an apprentice under his direct guidance.  This particular guitar happens to have been made by Evan Kingma who is now a sought-after luthier on his own with his guitars selling for big prices on Siccas Guitars, Savage Guitars, etc.  What an opportunity to get your hands on one of Evan’s early guitars!

This guitar was donated to RIGG by one of our members who owned it for some years.  It is a ‘gently used’ guitar with minor finger marks on the soundboard and neck. 

Specs:  Spruce top with flame maple sides & back, 650 mm string length; Der Jung 306 tuners; hard-shell case.

Mark Davis has had a chance to spend some hours with this guitar and has this to say about it: “This is a guitar with an elegant, old-world sound.  The basses are rich and profound and carry a special springiness to them which is essentially Spanish in nature.  The trebles are clear and singing.  The quality of the workmanship is outstanding, and the wood used is spectacular!  The guitar is very enjoyable to play and rewarding in its response to player input.  Whoever ends up with this guitar will be getting an amazing instrument!”
